We envision a thriving and resilient rural community with access to high-quality, comprehensive health and wellness services.
Access to modern medical care is a vital part of our community infrastructure and the well-being of those we serve, especially those with the greatest travel challenges. Every minute counts when the unexpected happens. SoHum Health saves lives by delivering the most advanced healthcare technologies possible, including emergency services, radiology, CT, mammography, ultrasound, home health visits, primary care, and skilled nursing.
Be a part of building a new modern hospital by donating today!
Our vision is to relocate the existing emergency and acute care departments into a new hospital that would provide needed medical advancements to Southern Humboldt, meet changing seismic requirements, and maximize efficiency. The new campus will also include expansion and updates to our community clinic, laboratory, and radiology, as well as provide space to grow to better serve patients. Once the hospital and clinic move to their new home, SoHum Health will be able to expand our much-needed Skilled Nursing unit at the existing building. SoHum Health operates the only Skilled Nursing Facility in Southern Humboldt and always has a waitlist.
SoHum Health and SoHum Health Foundation have been closely working with Ratcliff Architects to design and create spaces within the facility that can be flexed and reconfigured to use for different purposes, as new health needs arise in the future. The plans include several new services, including bone density scans, MRI services, and a helistop for rapid patient transfers.
The new facility will reflect the values of Southern Humboldt and meet community health needs in the most efficient and insightful way possible, with room to grow into the future.
