From the start I wasn't alone with my fear and hopelessness.
At the Breast and GYN Health Project, we know that a cancer diagnosis is scary and overwhelming. If you or a loved one are faced with breast or gynecologic cancer or a cancer concern, we are here to help! Our services are always provided free of charge.
Even though I had worked in healthcare for many years, I felt like I was entering a foreign land.
Founded by breast cancer survivors and caregivers, we understand what it means to search for answers amidst uncertainty. Through compassion and shared experience, we help people overcome their fear and become their own best medical advocate.
Knowing there is someone that's been through it and cares is valuable. When I talk to you my stress level goes down about 10 notches.
When a community member needs our services, they are welcomed into a circle of caring where they are listened to, their fear is acknowledged, and their choices are respected. We believe that healing is not just about curing disease, but about nurturing hope, dignity, and wholeness.
When you support BGHP, you're directly helping people in need.
BGHP is a 100% grassroots-funded non-profit organization. We receive no form of government funding for the services we provide. On this BOLD Day of Giving, your gift supports our clients as they find their own unique path toward healing.

How Your Donation Helps Local Cancer Patients
PRACTICAL ASSISTANCE: Having cancer can be a full-time job - one that most of us never train for! Through combined experience, we help people find providers, navigate the medical system and understand their diagnosis. Each client receives a Medical Record binder to keep information like appointments, test results, medication lists, and questions for doctors neatly organized. If chemotherapy is part of treatment, we provide a "ChemoKit" that is packed with supplies and information to manage side effects.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: It can be difficult to discuss aspects of the cancer experience, especially if one doesn't want to burden family and friends. BGHP's signature service is our Warmline Volunteer program. During weekly client check-in calls, Warmliners (who are cancer survivors or caregivers) answer questions, commiserate, celebrate, listen, or advise - whatever is needed that day! We also moderate five peer support groups, where clients can speak freely and learn from each other.

INFORMATION: We stay up-to-date on financial resources, treatment developments, available providers, and medical literature so that people can focus on healing. Clients can request in-depth information searches conducted by knowledgeable, trustworthy staff and volunteers. Our extensive lending library has books about survivorship, how to discuss cancer with small children, healthy eating, and much more.
